A friend of mine who is an author recently said, "I hear I oughta get on Pinterest."

That sounds like getting on a horse or something. Funny.

The reason to engage in a particular social network is only in small part "being there."

Yes, it's good to have a presence in the various networks, because that way if it's someone's favorite place to hang, they'll find you.
